How is Lasik performed?

Lasik surgery aims at modifying the curvature of the eye’s cornea by ablating (removing tissue) the corneal bed using a laser beam.

The corneal bed is exposed by cutting a flap into the cornea also with the aid of laser light.

Cost of Lasik in Thailand

Lasik in Thailand cost between $900 to $1600 per eye for conventional Microkeratome LASIK, and covers surgery and normal postoperative medicine and follow-up appointments.

Surgery Duration

The procedure takes 10 to 15 minutes per eye to perform, although the laser itself takes 10 seconds to correct eyesight.

Risks & Recovery

American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery reports that 96% of patients are able to gain 20/20 vision after surgery.

However, Lasik does come with risks including undercorrection – removing tissue that is too little – or overcorrection, restoration of vision to pre-surgery status, changes to or total loss of vision, glares, hallows and double vision, as well as astigmatism. Other complications are dry eyes and problems with the flap such as inflammation.

You may be given eye drops to avert infection or inflammation and to keep the eyes lubricated
Avoid using creams or make up around the eye until the doctor advises it is safe to apply them

Avoid contact sports for at least 4 weeks after surgery
It takes 3 to 6 months for your vision to stabilize during which you will experience haloes, glares and difficulty seeing at night
