JCIHospital accreditation of Thailand

Brumrungrad (pronounced bahm-roong-RAHT) translates to “care for the people,” apt name for a medical facility that has been doing just that for over three decades.

The Bumrungrad International in Thailand is one of Asia’s largest private hospitals, which serves over a million patients every year, a large fraction of whom are foreigners, expatriates, and medical tourists.

The hospital has 580 beds, and offers medical services in over 80 specialties.

Established in 1980, Bumrungrad was the first Asian hospital to win the coveted JCI-accreditation back in 2002.

The hospital, although more expensive than others, employs state-of-the-art technology in diagnostics and therapeutics, and is able to offer many advanced procedures to the patients.

It has been featured in various international magazines and publications and has won the following awards among others:

  • Prime Minister’s Export Award in “hospital” category
  • Thailand’s Top Ten Most Innovative Companies Award
  • Best Practice Workplace Award from Thailand’s Ministry of Labor
  • Trusted Brand Award in “hospital services” category from Reader’s Digest Asia

The hospital is around 35min drive from Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok.

Bumrungrad operates its own desk in the arrival area (Area C) of Bangkok’s airport and provides one-way shuttle service to the hospital. You can talk to their airport representative in advance here.

The hospital is located in the Sukhumvit district of Bangkok, known for its fancy apartments, villas, restaurants, bars and clubs.

Sukhumvit road is one of the longest boulevards in the world, and possibly the longest in Thailand.

    What's around

The pavement of Sukhumvit has become a huge market where you can buy everything from shoes to fake Rolex watches.

After midnight you will see a lot of them turn into roadside bars and pubs.

Sukhumvit is also the place for some of the best dining in Bangkok—you will be overwhelmed by the sheer variety and choice of eatables from five-stars to street stands.

You will also find many places here to indulge in the famous Thai massage, learn some cooking, meditation, or just splurge at local boutiques or international brand outlets.

Also famous tourist spots including the Grand Palace and the National Heritage Museum are all within close proximity of the hospital.
